“Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or drink; or about your body, what you will wear. Is not life more than food, and the body more than clothes?” Matthew 6:25
Our journey to where we are now began in high school, where we started learning about health, cooking, and fitness. Unfortunately, we went about obtaining health in the wrong way. We spent our high school years yo-yo dieting, restricting ourselves, calorie counting, and caring far too much about our bodies. We were constantly comparing our bodies to models and others around us. We became obsessed with healthy food, in an unhealthy way. What we ate, and even more so what we didn’t eat, consumed our thoughts. This created a very negative outlook on food, and we both began to view eating as a stressful experience. We had developed a very unhealthy relationship with food, and had let our happiness depend on our diet, calories, and body image.
Thankfully, through talking with others, learning about importance of a healthy relationship with food, and prayer; we are so far from where we were in high school. It is so crazy to look back at where we began, clearly seeing all of the lies we believed and let rule our lives. Because we have been there and know what it is like to struggle with food anxiety, we want to help others who feel the same way. We want all of you to have the freedom and joy we have found through cooking, eating with friends, and nourishing our bodies with the amazing foods that God has given us.
The Bible tells us that “comparison is the thief of joy,” and we both have found this to be very true in our lives. God made us all uniquely and in His image, and it has taken time for us to fully embody this. We hope you all can get to the point of loving yourself and the way you are made without comparing yourself to others.
Food is something created for us to enjoy and to nourish our bodies.
We want all of you to be able to fully enjoy eating the delicious, nutrient-dense foods that God has made for us. Clearly, we both LOVE food and are so excited to share our stories and our new, positive view of food in hopes of you guys being able to do the same!
